Alimera Sciences, Inc. was founded in June 2003 as a pharmaceutical company focused on the research, development, and commercialization of prescription ophthalmic drugs. Currently, Alimera Sciences is dedicated to diseases affecting the back of the eye or retina, as current treatment methods for these conditions are inadequate and impact millions of people in our aging population. Alimera Sciences' product and development portfolio aims to treat both early and advanced ophthalmic diseases, including: Diabetic Macular Edema (DME), dry and wet Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD), and Retinal Vein Occlusion (RVO).
