Basic Information

ApoGen Biotechnologies is developing novel cancer treatments targeting key drivers of mutations and cancer genomic evolution to overcome drug resistance. Our primary focus is APOBEC3B (A3B), a DNA cytosine deaminase and a significant endogenous source of DNA mutations in cancer. A3B has recently been identified as a major contributor to the characteristic C-to-T mutation signature and higher overall mutational burden observed in many cancers. Elevated levels of A3B have been shown to be a critical driver of cancer development, including breast cancer, head and neck cancer, lung cancer, bladder cancer, cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, myeloma, and certain blood cancers. ApoGen’s drug discovery and development efforts are centered on highly selective and potent small-molecule inhibitors targeting A3B. These inhibitors aim to slow or halt the progression of cancer genomic mutations and drug resistance, with the potential to enhance the efficacy of current and future therapies.
