Beijing Balance Medical Technology Co., Ltd., established in 2005, is a high-tech enterprise dedicated to the research and production of high-value animal-derived implantable medical devices. The company independently develops animal tissue engineering and original chemical modification technologies. It has obtained approval for 15 Class III medical device products. As a leading platform enterprise in China for the development of animal-derived implantable medical devices, its products cover three major fields: heart valve replacement and repair, congenital heart disease implantation and intervention treatment, and surgical soft tissue repair. The company owns proprietary animal tissue engineering and chemical modification technologies that make treated animal tissues anti-rejection, anti-calcification, and able to meet long-term therapeutic expectations after being implanted into the human body. The company's artificial biological heart valve - bovine pericardial valve, produced using this technology, was registered in 2003 as the earliest domestically registered product in China with the only available long-term evidence-based medical data currently. Based on the platform technology, the company has extended its development to include biological patch products used in circulatory system repair, thoracic trachea and lung tissue repair, dura mater (spinal) repair, hernia repair, and will further extend applications to ophthalmology and vascular surgery. To date, seven of the company’s products — artificial biological heart valves (bovine pericardial valve, porcine aortic valve), pulmonary artery valved conduit, annuloplasty ring, cardiothoracic surgical biological patch, neurosurgical microvascular decompression pad, and outflow tract monocusp patch — are the first domestically approved Chinese products in their respective categories, filling domestic gaps, and have received over 20 domestic and international invention patent authorizations. The company successfully listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange STAR Market in December 2019 (stock code: 688198).Under the current product layout in the three sectors of surgical soft tissue repair, heart valve replacement and repair, and congenital heart disease implantation and intervention treatment, the company actively covers a broader range of therapeutic areas and product applications by building a high-level R&D platform for animal-derived implant materials and proprietary core technologies, providing more comprehensive treatment guarantees for different patients.
