Portal Diabetes, Inc. is developing the world's first artificial pancreas — a fully automated insulin delivery system. Leveraging the rapid pharmacokinetics of intraperitoneal insulin delivery, an implantable pump, heat-stable insulin, and advanced continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) technology, this system becomes feasible. The Portal Pump™ is expected to increase the percentage of time patients spend in target blood glucose range to approximately 90%, while completely alleviating the burdensome task of glucose management. Patients no longer need to calculate carbohydrates, pre-plan meals, report exercise, or wake up at night to monitor and adjust their blood sugar levels.
