Applied Monitoring, a UK-based company developing innovative healthcare and fitness monitors, has created a non-invasive method for continuously monitoring lactate levels in the blood to detect when athletes reach peak performance and help plan their training regimens. Following successful trials at Durham University, the company signed a contract with a leading European microchip manufacturer to produce a tiny device that can be embedded in an armband and synchronized with a smartwatch.
