Basic Information
Alesta Therapeutics is a biotechnology company focused on developing transformative small-molecule therapies for rare diseases. The company’s lead asset, ALE1, is a unique orally active therapeutic candidate for the treatment of hypophosphatasia (HPP), a rare genetic disorder caused by mutations in the ALPL gene. This condition leads to defects in bone and tooth mineralization, resulting in fragile bones, early loss of teeth, and in adult patients, clinically significant muscle weakness and fatigue. The prevalence is estimated at approximately 50,000 patients in the United States and around 75,000 patients in the European Union (including the UK).
