Vitara Biomedical's vision is to provide lifelong possibilities for premature infants and their families. The company is developing a unique life-support system aimed at improving outcomes for preterm infants. The Vitara system creates a fluid environment that mimics the experience of a baby in the mother’s womb, designed to help support the healthy growth and development of premature infants’ organs. Studies on fetal lambs to date have shown that both mid and late gestation can be supported in the system for 10 to 28 days without harm as organ systems continue to develop. The company is pursuing the first human clinical study of the Vitara system.
