VirionHealth is dedicated to developing novel broad-spectrum antiviral biologics for the treatment of respiratory viral infections. It specializes in the precise engineering of non-infectious "Defective Interfering Particles (DIPs)" to competitively interfere with the replication of infectious "complete viruses," thereby achieving an antiviral effect. DIPs themselves are derived from the evolution of "complete viruses" and represent a type of sub-genomic deletion mutant of the homologous "complete virus." The genome of a DIP is smaller than that of its homologous complete virus, and its replication depends on the presence of the homologous complete virus but occurs at a faster rate. During co-infection, DIPs outcompete the complete virus in replication, thereby interfering with, displacing, and suppressing the replication of the complete virus to achieve the prevention and treatment of viral infections.
