āshibio is a privately-held biotechnology company developing novel therapies for the treatment of bone and connective tissue disorders. Founded in 2022 by Pankaj Bhargava, MD, the company’s CEO, along with the MPM BioImpact team, āshibio emerged from stealth mode in June 2024 with a $40 million seed and Series A financing round. The company plans to initiate a Phase 2/3 clinical trial of its lead asset, andecaliximab, in the second half of 2024 for the treatment of patients with Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva (FOP), a rare genetic disorder characterized by progressive heterotopic ossification (HO), a pathological condition marked by abnormal bone formation in muscles and soft tissues.
