Latus Bio

Latus Bio is a patient-centered, product-oriented gene therapy company founded by members of the academic laboratory of Professor Beverly Davidson, Chief Scientific Strategy Officer at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and co-founder of Spark Therapeutics. The company’s proprietary AAV capsids were identified through direct screening of tens of millions of novel variants in non-human primates (NHPs) and optimized clinical delivery routes. In preclinical studies on non-human primates, Latus Bio’s lead candidates demonstrated high gene expression in precise locations within the central nervous system (CNS), with cell specificity and minimal off-target activity. As a result, Latus Bio plans to administer low doses of its lead candidates to enhance clinical safety and achieve successful manufacturing. Latus Bio has three candidate products in development and intends to bring its first gene therapy candidate into clinical trials by 2025. Latus Bio is advancing a robust pipeline of product candidates that could potentially treat both rare and common CNS disorders.
