Cuprina Holdings is a biomedical and biotechnology company dedicated to the development and commercialization of innovative products for chronic wound management, as well as operations in the health and beauty sectors. Carl Baptista, the founder of Cuprina, is passionate about biotechnology and exploring bio-based solutions to some of the world's challenges. Carl’s career began in the pest control industry, and while studying applied entomology, he learned about the medical applications of insects, particularly the benefits of Maggot Debridement Therapy (MDT) in treating chronic wounds. Cuprina’s insects and technologies have countless applications, with a primary focus on healthcare. Cuprina believes that, in the future, the company will be able to leverage its expertise in biomedical research to develop innovative cosmeceutical products. Cuprina produces and distributes a range of medical-grade sterile fly larval biologic dressing products under the MEDIFLY brand or as MEDIFLY products. MEDIFLY products are used as biologic debridement tools for chronic wounds and serve as an effective alternative to surgical debridement in a process known as Maggot Debridement Therapy (MDT).
