Autek China Inc. (referred to as "Autek China") is a high-tech enterprise focusing on eye health and myopia prevention and control technology and services. It was founded in 2000 by Dr. Tao Yuequn, an engineering doctor who studied in the United States. The current registered capital is 851 million yuan, with about 300 subsidiaries and a total of 2,772 employees (including subsidiaries). In 2021, the audited consolidated operating income was approximately 1.295 billion yuan, the net profit attributable to the parent company was about 555 million yuan, the total assets were about 2.972 billion yuan, the net assets attributable to the parent company were about 2.216 billion yuan, and the tax payment was about 185 million yuan. The company was listed on the GEM of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in January 2017, being the first listed ophthalmic technology enterprise in China. In 2020, it ranked eighth among Chinese medical device companies (including IVD). Autek China's business includes two major sectors: ophthalmic and optometric medical devices (products) and medical services. In terms of products, the current main products are orthokeratology lenses and other rigid contact lenses (invisible glasses) and supporting care products. It is currently the listed company in China that develops and produces rigid contact lenses and also one of the largest orthokeratology lens development and production enterprises globally. Orthokeratology lenses are special rigid contact lenses used to correct myopia, worn while sleeping and removed upon waking, which can maintain clear daytime unaided vision and slow down the progression of myopia. They were included in the "Myopia Prevention and Control Guidelines" released by the National Health Commission in June 2018, recognized by ophthalmology experts and users. The company’s products have features such as intelligence and personalization and have entered more than 1,400 well-known medical institutions in 30 provinces and cities in China except Tibet, with a cumulative user base of over 1.5 million. DreamVision and Meng Daiwei have become well-known brands in this product category. Wan Lijun, Chairman of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, and Jiao Hong, Director of the National Medical Products Administration, have visited the company for research and guidance. Beyond rigid contact lens products, the company is expanding its product and technology range through independent research and development, commissioned development, cooperative development, investment mergers and acquisitions, and industry funds. It has invested in more than 30 healthcare companies such as Guangzhou VisionBroad, Hangzhou Mule, Anhui BioArray, Anhui Ouwu, Shenzhen KangKang, Guangzhou VisionBright, Jingze Biotech, Dijia Medical, Xingmu Biotech, Jili Technology, Dingya Pharmachem, RayImage Medical, and Huiding Optics. With the support of the High-Tech Zone and the Provincial Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, it has established the "Qiaomengyuan Medical Device Innovation Base" to incubate new products by providing prototyping platforms, clinical trial and registration application guidance, funding, and sales channel support, reserving momentum for subsequent development. In terms of medical and optometric technical services, as of the first quarter of 2022, in addition to the Hefei General Hospital, Kangshi Eye Chain Institutions currently control eight ophthalmic hospitals in Bengbu, Lu'an, Xuancheng, Ma'anshan in Anhui, Shangrao in Jiangxi, Panjin in Liaoning, Laizhou in Shandong, and Xi'an in Shaanxi. At the same time, it has dozens of ophthalmic clinics and outpatient departments and more than 200 optometric centers across China. The company is increasing and accelerating its investment layout in the medical service field, aiming to form a nationwide eye health and myopia prevention and control service network.
