DLS is creating new drugs for the treatment of metabolic and cardiovascular diseases by mimicking advantageous genotypes/phenotypes found in nature. Some people are naturally thinner than others, and DLS has discovered mutations that cause this thinness. Mutations in the target protein lead to a loss of function, resulting in energy wastage in the body and subsequent leanness. DLS is developing a small molecule inhibitor for the target protein, which would similarly cause metabolic inefficiency and lead to leanness.
