Polarean Imaging plc is a revenue-generating research pharmaceutical-device combination company operating in the field of high-resolution medical imaging research. Polarean Imaging develops equipment that enables existing MRI systems to enhance pulmonary function imaging, specifically using hyperpolarized xenon gas (129Xe) as an imaging agent to visualize ventilation. Xe gas is currently under investigation for its ability to visualize gas exchange in the smallest airways of the lungs, through the alveolar tissue barrier, and into the pulmonary bloodstream. In October 2020, Polarean Imaging submitted a New Drug Application (NDA) to the FDA for hyperpolarized 129Xe for evaluating lung function and observing the lungs with MRI. The Group received a complete response letter on October 5, 2021.
