FundaMental Pharma is a neuroscience company spun off from Heidelberg University, developing first-class small inhibitors for the treatment of a range of neurodegenerative diseases. Fundamental scientists have discovered an entirely new class of drugs that can safely counteract glutamate excitotoxicity, a common cause of neurodegeneration. While current research focuses on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and Huntington's disease, the applications of these molecules extend to a series of neurodegenerative disorders, such as dementia and age-related memory loss.
