NuSomnea's mission is to revolutionize the diagnosis and management of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) by replacing overnight sleep tests with simpler, easier, lower-cost, and more accurate testing.The NuSomnea test involves the measurement of multiple urinary peptide biomarkers, providing diagnostic accuracy for OSA comparable to or higher than standard polysomnography (PSG) procedures. A prospective, controlled, proof-of-concept study conducted in 120 pediatric subjects demonstrated 100% sensitivity and 96.5% specificity in diagnosing OSA.With significantly reduced costs and easier administration compared to PSG, this new test can be used globally as both a diagnostic tool and a disease management tool to monitor treatment effectiveness and improve patient outcomes.The company has obtained exclusive intellectual property rights for the test. Since one of the co-founders is already a CLIA-certified laboratory, NuSomnea will be able to quickly refine, validate, and introduce the test. Using a reference laboratory as the initial business model will also provide greater flexibility for the commercialization and distribution of the test.
