TaGeza is a developer of next-generation immunotherapies and cancer-targeted therapies. The company is currently developing novel antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) based on new monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), which target specific types of cancer by targeting highly tumorigenic subpopulations of cancer cells known as cancer stem cells (CSCs) or tumor-initiating cells (TICs). Patients who undergo more conventional treatments, such as chemotherapy, experience reduced tumor size but often relapse and may even develop more aggressive diseases, partly because the residual population of chemotherapy-resistant tumor cells is enriched by CSCs or TICs. Therefore, targeting CSCs/TICs can help improve patient outcomes and reduce recurrence caused by their aggressive self-renewal, tumorigenic properties, and resistance to more conventional therapies.
