Basic Information
Concerto Biosciences Rebuilds the Microbial Communities Within, On, and Around the Human Body to Heal Humans and Improve the Planet. Products that rebuild microbial communities do not yet exist because no one has been able to map the vast inter-species interaction networks responsible for community behavior. The co-founders of Concerto invented the kChip, the world's first ultra-high-throughput platform for experimentally measuring the interactions of millions of microbes. Using kChip data, Concerto can map interaction networks to reveal what it calls "ensembles"—a new class of products where combinations of microbes work together to guide damaged microbial communities toward a healthy state. Since launching Concerto in 2020, the team has built a human skin microbiome biobank, measured over 6 million interactions with the kChip, and discovered an ensemble capable of correcting the microbial deficit underlying atopic dermatitis. The opportunity is enormous: Concerto aims to become the leading inventor across all fields of medicine and agriculture, reshaping humanity’s relationship with microbes.
