Basic Information

TolerogenixX is a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to developing personalized cell therapies aimed at achieving sustained immune tolerance to combat organ rejection and autoimmune diseases. Today, it announced the 3-year follow-up data from the Phase I trial of its MIC-Lx cell therapy. The results, published in advance in the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology (10.1681/ASN.2022020210), indicate that donor-specific immunosuppression following MIC infusion is durable and significantly associated with a marked increase in regulatory B lymphocytes. MIC cell therapy represents a curative approach for achieving sustained modulation of the immune system in transplant recipients and patients with autoimmune conditions. During living donor transplantation, peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from the donor are obtained via leukapheresis. These cells are then modified using TolerogenixX's proprietary MIC technology to alter the balance of immunoglobulins in the platinum group. Subsequently, the resulting cell therapy product, referred to as MIC-Lx, is administered intravenously to the organ recipient prior to transplantation.
