i-Cordis is an early-stage pharmaceutical company. i-Cordis has assembled a world-class team of cardiac immunologists and drug development experts to harness the power of immune modulation and address one of the biggest unmet needs in cardiology today: heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). To overcome issues faced by previous teams, i-Cordis is strategically leveraging the latest insights in cardiac immunology to optimize the marketed drug pirfenidone. Pirfenidone is arguably the most extensively studied immunomodulatory drug with cardioprotective effects. Its cardioprotective properties have been documented in three different preclinical species and reported across more than 30 peer-reviewed publications in various models of cardiac dysfunction. It was also recently investigated in a Phase II clinical trial. i-Cordis is utilizing its team’s proprietary expertise to eliminate the drawbacks of pirfenidone and develop a new molecular entity that holds the potential to revolutionize HFpEF treatment.
