Spago Nanomedical is a Swedish nanomedicine company in the clinical development stage, focusing on products for diagnosing and treating life-threatening diseases. The company’s SpagoPix project aims to introduce a groundbreaking gadolinium-free MRI contrast agent for visualizing tumors and metastases. Unlike traditional low molecular weight MRI contrast agents, which enhance both healthy and tumor tissues and thus lead to a relatively high rate of false-positive results, Spago Nanomedical’s proprietary contrast agent is designed to selectively accumulate in tumor tissue. This improves the precision of MRI scans for suspected cancer cases. With better cancer diagnostics, the chances for successful and cost-effective treatment for cancer patients are enhanced. The Tumorad® project focuses on developing a novel therapeutic radiopharmaceutical based on nanoparticles containing radioactive isotopes to target solid tumors. Tumorad® is designed to enable tumor selectivity, allowing effective radiation therapy even for small, hard-to-reach, and aggressive tumors while minimizing the risk of adverse effects.
