The company’s lead product, VenoValve®, is a first-of-its-kind implant for treating deep venous chronic venous insufficiency (CVI). In healthy patients, valves within the leg veins help push blood up the legs and return it to the heart and lungs. Affecting approximately 2.4 million people in the U.S., CVI occurs when valves inside the leg veins are damaged, causing backward blood flow (reflux), blood pooling in the calves, increased pressure in leg veins (venous hypertension), and in severe cases, venous ulcers that are difficult to heal and become chronic. VenoValve is implanted into the femoral vein and designed to act as a one-way valve to help restore proper blood flow in the legs.
