BioMADE, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense as a Manufacturing Innovation Institute (MII), is also a member of Manufacturing USA. Manufacturing USA is a national network dedicated to ensuring the United States’ global leadership in advanced manufacturing through large-scale public-private collaborations in technology, supply chain, education, and workforce development. It focuses on securing America’s future through innovation, education, and collaboration in bioindustrial manufacturing. Bioindustrial manufacturing utilizes biological systems (including microorganisms such as bacteria, yeast, and algae) to create new materials or sustainable alternatives to existing petroleum-based materials.
