Touchlab

Touchlab is a deep-tech company based in Edinburgh, Scotland, that develops electronic skin (e-skin) for robots, which can be wrapped around hard or soft robots to sense pressure, position, and orientation in real time. The e-skin can also serve as a platform for teleoperation Avatar technology, which Touchlab is currently collaborating on with Professor Vijayakumar and Dr. Ivan from the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics, as well as Dr. Navaraj from Nottingham Trent University. This technology operates through haptics and has been proven effective over distances exceeding 600 kilometers. When using Telerobot, a proxy will be placed between healthcare providers and patients, which is expected to reduce the spread of Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI).
