Nvision, a medical device company, and Watershed Idea Foundry have received FDA clearance for their 3D-printed titanium anterior cervical plate. The anterior cervical plate is a small plate typically used to provide stability to the spine after surgery. By 3D printing the cervical plate, they leveraged the design advantages of additive manufacturing to combine several small components into a single, integrated part. This significantly reduces surgical risks for patients. Compared with traditionally manufactured counterparts, the 3D-printed titanium cervical plate can also lower production costs and shorten delivery times.
