Basic Information
MyLife Technologies, headquartered in the Netherlands, was founded in 2012 and has developed a drug delivery patch for the skin that can replace certain oral medications and deep intramuscular injections, which are often painful. The patch uses a ceramic nanoporous microneedle array (npMNA) capable of storing active therapeutic compounds such as vaccines, small molecules, and peptides. Made from inert ceramic material, the patch contains approximately 100 tiny needles that only penetrate the outer layer of the skin without reaching sensitive nerves or blood vessels. This makes the application and administration of vaccines or drugs completely painless, comparable to any other skin patch. The porous structure of this patented ceramic material can hold and deliver 50 times more vaccine or drug substance than microneedles made from other materials. MyLife's transdermal drug delivery technology provides an attractive alternative to specific parenteral formulations, oral dosage forms, or nasal formulations.
