Lacrimedics designs, develops, and manufactures occlusion treatment devices for the treatment of dry eye disease and its underlying symptoms. Lacrimedics was founded in 1984 by ophthalmologist Dr. Robert S. Herrick, M.D., a specialist in cornea and external diseases since the 1970s. Dr. Herrick has developed numerous innovative products and procedures for the care of patients with Dry Eye Disease (DED) and Lacrimal System Dysfunction (LSD). The company’s proprietary products include the Dissolvable VisiPlug Lacrimal Plug, which provides mid-term occlusion lasting approximately 180 days, and the OPAQUE Herrick Lacrimal Plug for long-term occlusion therapy. Lacrimedics pioneered the development of collagen plugs for testing lacrimal system efficiency. This product offers a simple and cost-effective method to diagnose dry eye disease and determine whether a patient will respond well to occlusion therapy.
