Basic Information

Globavir was founded by Dr. Shalabh Gupta in 2011. Globavir is built on multiple licenses from Stanford University, which come from various professors and departments. Globavir has developed a broad-spectrum antiviral drug that is currently under evaluation for the treatment of Chikungunya and Dengue infections. Globavir's lead investigational drug, GBV-006, is a novel drug combination that targets essential host cell mechanisms involved in vesicular transport, which are critical for the virus’s ability to enter cells, assemble, and exit. Given that discovering new small-molecule drugs can take a long time to reach the clinic, Globavir leverages the cost-saving and time-efficient advantages of drug repurposing. GBV-006 is a combination of two FDA-approved drugs and has demonstrated efficacy in both in vitro and in vivo models affecting viral load and mortality.
