Basic Information
Via Nova Therapeutics was founded by virologist Don Ganem, M.D., and Kelly Wong, Ph.D., to discover and develop treatments for acute and subacute viral infections that are currently lacking or insufficient. Via Nova's current programs are part of the antiviral portfolio led by its founders at Novartis, targeting several important respiratory viruses (including influenza virus, adenovirus, and rhinovirus) as well as human polyomaviruses, which can cause severe disease in immunocompromised hosts. The company focuses on the fundamental mechanisms of viral replication and thus also supports the discovery of new therapies for other viral infections.
