Metys Pharmaceuticals is developing MP-101 for the prevention and treatment of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, a discomforting and distressing side effect of several important cancer treatment methods. MP-101 is an orally active modulator of glutamate signaling in the spine and brain. Glutamate signaling has long been a popular target for the development of new central nervous system drug candidates. MP-101 is a particularly suitable candidate with excellent pharmaceutical properties; it is a small molecule obtained through a simple chemical manufacturing process. It also demonstrates oral activity across a wide range of rodent models of central nervous system diseases, such as depression, cognitive disorders, or neuropathic pain.
