Schering Plough is a major pharmaceutical manufacturer in the United States. It operates in three business segments: prescription drugs, animal health, and consumer health. Schering Plough develops products targeting allergies, cancer, hepatitis, cardiovascular, central nervous system, respiratory system, and more. It was originally founded by Ernst Christian Friedrich Schering under the name "Schering AG" in Germany in 1851.Schering Plough has produced a variety of drugs, the most notable being the allergy medications Claritin and Clarinex, the cholesterol-lowering drug Vytorin, and the brain tumor medication Temodar. It also develops drugs for the central nervous system and respiratory system.
