Basic Information
Health Heritage was launched in May 2014 at NorthShore University HealthSystems and acquired by NantHealth, LLC in October 2015. It has three unique features designed at the intersection of genomics and personalized medicine: First, it provides consumers with the ability to easily connect to their electronic medical records and use a customized natural language-based processing engine to extract specific detailed medical data. This includes the number, type, and location of colon polyps, as well as the exact diagnosis and onset dates of key conditions necessary to determine their risk of developing significant common diseases (such as cancer). Second, it features a dynamic approach that allows family members to share this data to create an accurate family medical history. Third, it possesses an extensive risk assessment engine that uses this data to provide personalized prevention and screening recommendations based on the latest scientific evidence and clinical guidelines, ranging from lifestyle changes to referrals for genetic testing. The company is the only family medical history application that directly connects to personal electronic medical records (EMR) and automatically extracts critical clinical data needed for personalized prevention and treatment decisions. The company accomplishes this in a manner independent of any specific EMR platform. The liberation of such data could have profound implications for the ownership and control of personal medical information. The company has also translated over 250 pages of detailed and complex clinical guidelines and scientific literature on identifying individuals at risk of common conditions, as well as hundreds of algorithms for optimal management, to generate personalized recommendations. Finally, the company has established a unique family-sharing feature to create a constantly evolving complete electronic family medical record.
