Tepha is a medical device company dedicated to developing and commercializing innovative products based on the company's proprietary biomaterials technology. This technology provides a new class of absorbable biomaterials, known as polyhydroxyalkanoates (also called PHA), which can be customized to meet various unmet needs in medical devices. Tepha’s novel biosynthetic materials exhibit excellent performance in flexibility, elasticity, and biocompatibility; additionally, for its fiber-based products, they possess outstanding tensile strength and strength retention.TephaFLEX® polymer is the company's first PHA material approved by the FDA for medical devices. Products made from TephaFLEX® polymer include surgical sutures, surgical meshes, surgical films, and composite meshes. Devices currently under development may lead to more complex products, including those for anterior cruciate ligament repair, intracardiac defect closure, and absorbable cardiovascular stents.
