Amyl Therapeutics is a preclinical-stage biotechnology company pioneering a groundbreaking approach to treating rare and severe peripheral protein misfolding diseases. Amyl Therapeutics employs a novel mechanism to bind to the amyloid folds of various toxic protein aggregates, including antibody light chain (AL) or transthyretin (TTR) aggregates, which accumulate in peripheral organs causing systemic amyloidosis, as well as amyloid-beta (Aβ), Tau, and α-synuclein aggregates, which accumulate in the brain leading to Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. Therapies based on the ClariTY technology platform are designed to prevent further accumulation of aggregates, clear existing aggregates from peripheral organs and the brain, and also halt the further spread of misfolded proteins between cells. These therapies could provide a breakthrough approach for treating protein misfolding diseases.
