BiVACOR

BiVACOR is a preclinical artificial heart device company founded in 2008. Their team consists of world-class engineers, medical experts, and corporate executives. BiVACOR is a fully artificial heart designed to assume the complete function of a patient’s failing heart. The BiVACOR TAH (Total Artificial Heart) is intended as a long-term device capable of replacing all functions of the patient's natural heart. This compact, small-sized device utilizes proven rotary blood pump technology to deliver the required cardiac output. The BiVACOR system incorporates a magnetically levitated rotor positioned between opposing pump housings. The critical feature enabling the device to support both the left and right sides of the heart lies in the left and right impeller blades mounted on either side of the rotating hub. The hub is suspended and rotated via an electromagnetic motor and bearing assembly located at the top of the pump housing. A specialized hydraulic design of the impellers, combined with the latest magnetic levitation (MAGLEV) technology, allows for precise adjustments to circulatory control through differential fluid output.
