Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) affects tens of thousands of cancer patients each year, not only reducing their quality of life but also potentially leading to lifelong disability. Osmol Therapeutics, a biopharmaceutical company headquartered in New Haven, Connecticut, is dedicated to developing a treatment to prevent chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN). Preclinical study data conducted by Osmol shows that pretreatment with OSM-0205 can prevent paclitaxel-induced neuronal damage in mice by preventing the off-target intracellular calcium surges caused by these chemotherapeutic agents.
