Basic Information
Luminopia, Inc., located in Massachusetts, USA, was founded in 2015 by Harvard University students Dean Travers and Scott Xiao. It is a startup company focused on children's health. Its mission is to improve the lives of children and families through the development of digital therapeutics. Our neuroscience-based approach delivers different TV and movie content to each eye via child-friendly virtual reality (VR) headsets. Our first product introduces a groundbreaking new method for treating amblyopia, transforming popular TV shows and movies into therapeutic visual input using VR headsets. We rebalance the images between the eyes to encourage the use of the weaker eye and correct binocular fusion. To provide the best product experience, we collaborate with leading media companies such as Sesame Workshop, PBS, Nickelodeon, and DreamWorks. We have also co-developed and evaluated this technology with top doctors from Boston Children’s Hospital, Cleveland Clinic, and Duke University.
