Basic Information
Bayer is a world-class innovative enterprise with core competencies in healthcare and agriculture. Bayer develops new molecules for innovative products and solutions to improve the health of humans, animals, and plants. Bayer's connection with China dates back to 1882 when it first sold dyes in China. Today, Bayer’s investment in Greater China (Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan) has steadily increased. In line with the commitment of "Bayer Solutions – Tailored to China's Needs," Bayer has evolved from gradual investments in the early 1990s to large-scale, world-class asset investments. Currently, Greater China has become Bayer's largest single market in Asia. In 2010, Bayer's sales in the region reached approximately 2.9 billion euros. Bayer now employs more than 11,000 people in Greater China, making it one of Bayer's major global investment hubs. Bayer's core strategy in China is to align with the country's economic and social development. Bayer consistently monitors China's progress and maintains close contact with relevant government departments to promptly understand the needs of the Chinese market. In the 12th Five-Year Plan, the Chinese government identified current challenges such as agricultural issues, energy shortages, public health, environmental pollution, etc., and will address these challenges with intensified efforts, adopting sustainable development as a key strategy. Globally, Bayer's mission is "Science For A Better Life"; this concept applied in China translates to "Bayer Solutions – Tailored to China's Needs." Bayer's operations in Greater China are mainly concentrated in three subgroups: Bayer HealthCare, Bayer CropScience, and Bayer MaterialScience, along with a service company, Bayer Technology Services. Bayer operates multiple production plants in Greater China. Currently, local production accounts for an increasing proportion of sales in Greater China. With several major investment projects underway, Bayer is committed to becoming a key partner in China's development.
