Vibrant Ltd, a medical technology company, has developed a one-time use vibrating capsule for the treatment of chronic constipation. Vibrant’s value lies in its ability to better control bowel movements, whereas laxatives may cause unexpected diarrhea and long-term side effects. Moreover, while laxatives are meant to be taken daily, the disposable capsule can be used 2-5 times per week at any location. The capsule connects to an app that automatically records the time you take the medication. When a bowel movement occurs, the patient logs it in the app, which then sends a monthly report to the patient's doctor so they can monitor and adjust the treatment plan as needed.
