Medical Diagnostic Laboratories (MDL) was founded in 1997 and provides testing services based on molecular diagnostics. The company specializes in DNA-based automated molecular analysis. It offers diagnostic information to clinicians from various specialties to assist in the detection, diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of bacterial, viral, and fungal infections, as well as gene-based tests and cancer diagnostics. MDL provides unique, non-invasive, highly stable specimen collection and transportation platforms such as OneSwab®, UroSwab®, and NasoSwab®. These platforms enable MDL to provide multiple PCR-based tests from a single swab with high sensitivity and specificity. MDL focuses on high-complexity, state-of-the-art, DNA-based automated molecular analysis. By utilizing molecular technologies, MDL is able to provide valuable customized diagnostic information to clinicians from many different specialties to assist in the detection, diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of viral, fungal, and bacterial infections. For example, the unique tests offered by MDL for urology and gynecology specialties can detect multiple pathogens and certain drug resistances from a single swab using PCR. MDL’s primary focus is in the field of infectious disease testing in urology, obstetrics and gynecology, respiratory tract infections, vector-borne diseases, mycology, and pharmacogenomics. MDL is composed of experts in the fields of molecular biology, immunology, virology, microbiology, mycology, pharmacogenomics, antimicrobial resistance, and oncology. In addition to developing and validating new clinical diagnostic tests, the Research and Development Department publishes research projects in peer-reviewed journals, presents scientific information at international conferences, and conducts contract research work for major commercial, government, and academic organizations.
