Basic Information
Iterion Therapeutics is a venture capital-backed clinical-stage biotechnology company dedicated to developing novel targeted cancer therapeutics. The company’s lead product, Tegavivint, is a potent and selective nuclear β-catenin inhibitor, where nuclear β-catenin is a well-established “undruggable” oncology target associated with cell proliferation, differentiation, immune evasion, and stem cell renewal. Many large pharmaceutical companies have attempted and failed to develop drugs that can effectively bind to the protein. What sets Tegavivint apart is that it does not directly bind to β-catenin; instead, it interacts with TBL1 (Transducin Beta-Like Protein 1), a protein that β-catenin must engage to promote the expression of cancer genes.
