CiRC Biosciences is a privately held cell therapy company dedicated to developing treatments for serious diseases with high unmet medical needs, initially focusing on the eye. Founded in 2019, CiRC Biosciences is currently engaged in preclinical research aimed at vision restoration using chemically induced retinal cells, with a particular focus on treating geographic atrophy, age-related macular degeneration ("dry AMD"), and advanced retinitis pigmentosa (RP). While stem cells have generated considerable excitement, CiRC's technology bypasses the need for stem cells by using a mixture of small molecules to transform ordinary skin cells into specialized retinal cells.
