Basic Information

Steba Biotech is a biotechnology company based in Luxembourg that holds exclusive rights from the Weizmann Institute of Science (WIS, Israel) and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC, New York) to develop and commercialize drugs and related technologies for ImPACT (Immuno Photonic Activation Cancer Therapy).ImPACT is a potential mainstream cancer treatment method that provides a novel platform to address the unmet need for organ-preserving treatments in both localized and metastatic stages of solid tumors. It involves the intravenous delivery of a drug, which is then activated within the tumor vasculature through fiber optics already positioned in the target tissue via image-guided devices. This activation leads to the immediate occlusion of the tumor's blood supply, followed by self-propagating necrosis throughout the entire tumor with minimal collateral damage to the surrounding normal tissue. The death of necrotic cells triggers an anti-tumor immune response, which can be enhanced by combining ImPACT with various drugs, including checkpoint inhibitors, potentially leading to the regression of distant metastases.
