InWith's engineers have integrated AR display chips into soft contact lenses—currently, other similar applications still use rigid contact lenses, which are relatively less comfortable. InWith has embedded solid components and circuits into the hydrogel material used in soft contact lenses, allowing for a certain degree of flexibility during the normal manufacturing process. This engineering breakthrough not only enhances the ophthalmic applications of contact lenses, such as integrating AR/XR vision applications to provide better vision for individuals with myopia, but also offers significant imaginative space for the development of eye-wearable devices. For instance, non-invasive biosensors could be integrated into contact lenses to provide continuous health monitoring capabilities.
