Basic Information

WebSafety is an application designed for parents to monitor social media and web browsing on mobile devices. The application was fully launched in November 2015 and is currently available on the App Store and Google Play. The WebSafety application allows parents to monitor what their children are doing on iOS and Android mobile devices. Here’s how the internet safety monitor works: it tracks app downloads, text messages, website visits, and social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, including photos uploaded by children. Additionally, WebSafety tracks location and sets up notifications when children enter or leave predetermined locations and areas, enabling geo-silence on mobile devices. The application also allows parents to create curfews that automatically disable certain mobile device functions during parent-determined times. Parents will receive notifications on their mobile devices or desktop/laptop computers when suspicious apps and websites are downloaded and accessed, or when vulgar and derogatory language or other concerning words such as suicide, guns, hate, drugs, etc., are used, which may indicate that a child is being affected by cyberbullying or other emotional issues. The goal of WebSafety is to provide an open window through which concerned parents can monitor suspicious and potentially harmful content or direct predatory communication occurring on their child's mobile device.
