Rhinostics Inc., a spin-off from Harvard University, is dedicated to commercializing simple and elegant solutions to bring efficiency and cost savings to laboratory workflows. The nasal swab collection device from Rhinostics Inc. offers features that can increase sample throughput by more than 10 times while eliminating manual labor and errors in laboratory workflows. The swabs are integrated into a cap that allows for automatic removal from the tube, while all 96 samples are simultaneously processed by scanning the 2D barcode at the bottom of the tube. Additionally, the device enables dry transport of respiratory samples without the need for viral transport medium (VTM), allowing for easy and comfortable collection within the nasal cavity. This product has an immediate impact on improving the efficiency of COVID-19 testing and is also suitable for a broader range of respiratory virus, bacteria, and genetic testing using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and next-generation sequencing (NGS).
