The Upjohn Company is a pharmaceutical company founded by Dr. William E. Upjohn, a graduate of the University of Michigan Medical School in 1875, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, in 1886. The company was initially established to manufacture friable tablets, which were specifically designed for easy digestion.It was later acquired by Pfizer and became its subsidiary. On November 16, 2020, Pfizer announced the merger of Upjohn with Mylan, forming Viatris.
