Basic Information
Cogent Biosciences is a biotechnology company dedicated to developing truly transformative solutions for genetically driven diseases. We focus on the rational design of precision therapies, leveraging validated biology to address the true underlying drivers of disease and offer real hope to patients. Millions of people worldwide suffer from genetically defined diseases. Mutations can trigger a cascade of effects in the body, leading to diseases—such as cancer, autoimmune disorders, and rare conditions. For most of these diseases, despite available treatments, there remains a significant unmet need to extend patient survival and improve quality of life. Our lead therapeutic candidate, bezuclastinib (CGT9486), is a precision kinase inhibitor designed to selectively and effectively inhibit the KIT D816V mutation. This mutation causes a rare and serious condition known as systemic mastocytosis, which severely impacts many different tissues and organs in the body. We are also investigating bezuclastinib for the treatment of advanced gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST), which exhibit strong dependency on oncogenic KIT signaling.
