BioAesthetics, founded in 2015 as a spin-off from Tulane University, is dedicated to improving reconstructive options for breast cancer patients following mastectomy. The company’s initial product is a tissue-engineered nipple-areola complex (NAC). This product will be provided as an off-the-shelf, acellular NAC graft to plastic and reconstructive surgeons. During the breast reconstruction phase after mastectomy, surgeons will implant the NAC graft onto the patient's reconstructed breast. The patient’s body will then use this NAC graft as a framework to regenerate its own NAC. The product is patent-pending and currently in the preclinical stage.
