Basic Information
Autonomy Medical Group, originating from the University of Cambridge in the UK and now a subsidiary of Hewlett-Packard, primarily develops CDS systems by focusing on disease diagnosis. This approach differs from the common CDS development strategy that mainly provides treatment and medication decision support.Autonomy’s launched CDS product—Auminence—relies on a "practical healthcare" platform to analyze clinical data such as patient medical history, current symptoms, and information obtained by doctors. The system searches for possible disease types corresponding to the clinical data provided and lists the statistical probabilities of each type occurring. It can also perform differential diagnoses to assist doctors in confirming diseases. All analysis results are presented in a dashboard format.Interestingly, Autonomy appointed Dr. Joseph Britto as the head of medical technology, who previously worked at Isabel Healthcare (detailed below), another company developing diagnostic decision support systems. Dr. Britto launched Auminence in 2010. (Britto has since become an independent clinical informatics consultant.)
